As a self-proclaimed snackaholic, I can’t think of a better surprise to get in the mail than a box of vegan food. As luck would have it, this exact thing happened to me a few days before Thanksgiving. I received November’s Vegan Cuts Snack Box on a Monday afternoon and tore into it faster than a kid opens gifts on Christmas morning.
For those who don’t know, Vegan Cuts is a monthly subscription box filled with vegan and natural food products. Every month, the company sends between 7 and 10 vegan goodies straight to each subscriber’s front door. From chips and cookies to sodas and teas, I’m always excited to see what I get to sample.
As usual, November’s Vegan Cuts Snack Box contained a variety of yummy vegan snacks including popcorn, protein bars, tea, and even a carton of dairy-free chocolate mylk. The box also included an information card with details about each item. I liked to reference this little cheat sheet every time I tried one of the enclosed snacks so I could look up each company on social media.
The first thing I noticed about the November snack box was the assortment of flavors included. It’s nice to have a selection of snacks on hand that range from savory to sweet to curb all possible cravings. I’m more of a savory gal myself, so I naturally couldn’t wait to dig into the Spiced & Infused Chipotle Taco Popcorn. I was happy to see that there are no artificial flavors or colors used and that this tasty snack is gluten-free, sugar-free, and non-GMO. Not to mention, the smoky-robust flavor was top notch.
On the sweet side, my favorite snack was definitely the Organic Raw Dark Chocolate Covered Coconut Chunks. With all the health benefits and powerful antioxidants in both dark chocolate and coconut, I didn’t feel the least bit guilty indulging my sweet tooth in the middle of the day. Needless to say, I was equally in love with Rebel Kitchen’s Organic Chocolate Coconut Milk Drink with Cacao. The taste was phenomenal, but the texture of the coconut chunks floating in the beverage was a bit creepy.
Here’s a quick breakdown of the other items in November’s Vegan Cuts Snack Box:
Raw Revolution GloBar: I received the creamy peanut butter & sea salt flavor, which is definitely the variety I would have chosen for myself. Unfortunately, I didn’t love this snack. It had that distinct protein bar flavor that leaves a weird aftertaste in your mouth.
Bhakti Chai Tea: This is actually the only item from my snack box I haven’t tried yet. As a big tea drinker, I’m looking forward to trying both the Rooibos and Fiery Masala blends. I love that the company is Fair-Trade Certified and only uses vegan ingredients.
MiMi’s Kitchen Coco Almond Oatmeal Bar: This snack is cholesterol-free, raw, soy-free, non-GMO, and refined sugar-free. With a mix of oats, dried fruit, seeds, and maple syrup, I successfully satisfied my sweet tooth without consuming any yucky ingredients. Yahoo!
LiveSmart Raw Bar: The thing I remember most about the LiveSmart Raw Bar is the texture. It reminded me of birdseed, but in the best possible way. This snack was packed with cranberries and pumpkin seeds, making it both healthy and festive.
Zego Organic Energy Bar: To be honest, this energy bar was pretty forgettable. I grabbed it on my way out the door to eat as a pre-workout snack and haven’t thought about it since. It’s probably a good choice for someone with food allergies, but not me.
PB Thins Peanut Butter Crackers: These peanut butter crackers were a very closer runner up for first place in the sweet category. As a fanatic of all things peanut butter, I would definitely seek these out and buy them. And, at only 100 calories per bag, who can resist?
SaladPower + Mango Drink: This drink was not as sweet as I thought it would be. It tasted like someone added mango juice to a Bloody Mary and gave it a cool name. The smell is odd, but the flavor grew on me after a few sips. I can’t say I’d seek it out, though.

I am not much for negative words, period. So, I'll keep these as positive as I can.
I was not impressed with the email, and I am not a proponent of frivolous spending, or purchasing absolutely unnecessary items for the sake of trying yet another array of useless 'food stuffs' I believe the vegan mentality is useful, but only if it's adhered to with commonsense, et el, not consuming a half gallon container of ice-cream, simply because it doesn"t contain a side of beef! I eat with commonsense, and a fork! Attention: eating vegan is no guarantee of health, and many have consumed product, after product in the belief, 'if it's vegan, it must be good for me, too.' As I am sure you know, that is a 100% false understanding of dietary laws. Manufacturers can be some rather unkuth characters. As you're probably well aware of, they can be totally misleading concerning their product ingredients labeling. Who, in the industrialized world, hasn't read at least a hundred, or more. Furthermore, the very fact that we've become a world of ingredient readers is proof enough, we do not trust our food manufactures. This is a revealing 'tell' no one should have to concern themselves with. When one buys any 'food' product, it should have only 'food' in that product.
Thank you for reading my rant!
Have a wonderful day, I sincerely mean that...
